1920 기억극장 ‘황금광시대’는 1920-30년대 발행한 민간미디어 ‘ 신문’과 ‘잡지’의 기록을 통해 100년의 시공간을 이동하며 산책자의시선으로 잊히거나 삭제된 당대 사건을 재구성하는 포럼(forum)의 장이다. 참여작가인 미디어아티스트 그룹 뮌, 안무가 이양희, VR영상 애니메이션 작가 권하윤은 폭넓은 리서치를 거쳐 개인전 규모의 신작을 선보인다. 1920년대 신여성이자 사회주의 페미니스트 여성의 관점에 서 혁명의 서사를 재구성한 소설가 조선희의 『세 여자』(2017)가 전시로 구현되며, 일민 컬렉션의 조선시대 고미술 소장품 및 근현대 작품 100여 점이 특별한 모습으로 공개된다. 시대의 흔적이 깃든 일민미술관 전관에서 5개의 씬으로 펼쳐지는 ‘황금광시대’는 실제 기록과 허구가 뒤얽힌 상상의 공간을 초현실적으로 연출한다. 관객은 역설과 모순으로 점철된 100년 전 시공간의 경계를 자유롭게 이동하며 파편으로 남겨진 기록을 스스로 재구성하게 된다.
1920 Memory Theater ‘The Gold Rush’ opens the forum to recreatethe forgotten or deleted contemporary events, traveling 100 years of time and space to the 1920s and the 1930s via records in Korea’s civilian media, newspapers and magazines. Participating artists of 1920 Memory Theater ‘The Gold Rush’ — MIOON the media artist group, Choreographer Lee Yanghee, VR video animation creator Kwon Hayoun — unveil new artworks in the scale of their own private exhibition based on the expansive research. Three Women (2017), a novel by a novelist Cho Sunhee who reconstructed the narrative of the revolution in the perspective of the New Woman as well as the Socialist Feminists in the 1920s, is materialized into an art exhibit. More than 100 works in the collection of traditional art and modern paintings of the Ilmin’s Collection will be opened to the public in a unique manner. ‘The Gold Rush’ will be unfolded in five scenes across the whole exhibition halls of the Ilmin Museum of Art where the traces of the times remain.
