국립현대미술관은 차세대 문화예술을 이끌 유망 창작자를 발굴하고 다학제간 협업을 지원하는 새로운 개념의 공모사업 ‘프로젝트 해시태그 2023’을 개최했다.
‘프로젝트 해시태그’는 2019년부터 현대자동차 후원, 다학제간 협업을 지원하는 공모로 올해 4회를 맞이했다. 지난 3월 총 102팀이 지원한 가운데 코로나19 엔데믹 선언 이후, 관계의 회복과 기술을 통한 일상의 반추를 이야기하는 ‘라이스 브루잉 시스터즈 클럽’과 ‘랩삐’가 최종 프로젝트 참가자로 선정된 바 있다.
라이스 브루잉 시스터즈 클럽은 이번 ‘프로젝트 해시태그 2023’에서는 우뭇가사리를 재료로 한 우무피막을 개발하여 이로 이루어진 숲공간인 <공생체은하수>를 선보인다. 랩삐는 <강냉이 털어 국현감>이라는 제목의 프로젝트를 선보인다. 랩삐는 휴식과 노동이라는 인간 행위가 자동화 사회 시스템 속에서 작동되는 방식을 관찰했다. 이를 토대로 ‘놀이노동(playbor)’이라는 놀이로 가장된 노동의 형태를 제안한다.
The MMCA presents the exhibition ‘PROJECT HASHTAG 2023’. In showcasing the results of an innovative open call, the project aims to discover promising creators who will lead the next generation of arts and culture, and support multidisciplinary collaboration.
‘PROJECT HASHTAG’ is an open call platform initiated in 2019 in partnership with Hyundai Motor Company. A total of 102 teams applied in March, and following Korea’s official declaration of COVID-19 downgrading to endemic status, Rice Brewing Sisters Club and lab B were selected as finalists, due to their projects’ discussion of the restoration of relationships and reflection on daily life through technology.
Rice Brewing Sisters Club is an art collective that expands an artistic practice, rooted in the collaboration between nonhuman-human and human-community into the concept of ‘social fermentation’. lab B is a visual arts collective that seeks to study diverse social issues triggered by the current technological culture; through a variety of practical approaches they hope to create meaningful discourse around the role of contemporary visual arts.
