송은문화재단은 2023년 12월 13일부터 2월 24일까지 《제23회 송은미술대상전》을 개최한다. 송은미술대상은 역량 있는 동시대 한국작가를 발굴하고 지원하기 위해 2001년부터 매년 운영하는 미술상이다. 제정 20주년을 맞아 지난 2021년 새롭게 개편한 송은미술대상의 올해 공모에는 총 512명의 작가가 지원하였고 지난 2월 진행된 예선을 거쳐 본선에 오른 작가 20인이 선정되었다. 《제23회 송은미술대상전》은 개편 후 두 번째 개최되는 공모전으로 본선에 오른 작가 20인이 참여하며, 전시 기간 중 최종 심사를 거쳐 대상 1인이 선정된다.
이번 전시에 참여하는 작가 20인 남진우, 문이삭, 박웅규, 박형진, 백경호, 백종관, 신미정, 신제현, 유화수, 이세준, 이우성, 이은영, 임노식, 장파, 전장연, 정서희, 정진, 허연화, 황문정, 황선정은 회화, 조각, 설치, 영상, 사운드 등 여러 매체를 아우르며 동시대 한국 미술의 다양한 모습을 살펴볼 수 있는 신작을 선보인다.
SONGEUN Art and Cultural Foundation is thrilled to present our most significant exhibition, an unequivocal embodiment of our mission and values: 《The 23rd SONGEUN Art Award》Exhibition. In 2021, we unveiled our new landmark venue and celebrated the 20th anniversary of the SONGEUN Art Award.
This marked a pivotal moment for the award as it broadened its mission to provide enhanced support to artists over an extended period. Over the past 20+ years, the SONGEUN Art Award program has undergone substantial development, largely thanks to our invaluable partnership with the Seoul Museum of Art Nanji Residency and generous sponsorship from Cartier. The Grand Prize winner of 《The 23rd SONGEUN Art Award》 will be chosen from the 20 shortlisted artists selected through an open call in February, from a pool of over 500 applicants. The exhibition will feature the new works of each artist, reflecting various facets of contemporary Korean art, including painting, sculpture, installation, video, and sound.
