베니스비엔날레 제60회 국제미술전 한국관 《구정아–오도라마 시티》의 귀국보고전을 아르코미술관 전관에서 개최한다. 이번 전시는 지난 7개월의 대장정을 마친 베니스비엔날레 한국관의 국내 귀국전이자, 구정아 작가의 한국관 전시를 보다 입체적인 각도에서 바라보는 개인전이다. 1995년 한국관 개관 이래 첫 공동 예술감독을 맡아 이목을 끈 이설희(덴마크 쿤스트할 오르후스 수석 큐레이터)와 야콥 파브리시우스(덴마크 아트 허브 코펜하겐 관장)가 이번 귀국전도 기획했다.
전시 제목 ‘오도라마’는 향을 뜻하는 ‘오도(odor)’에 드라마(drama)의 ‘라마(-rama)’를 결합한 단어이다. 구정아는 후각과 시각을 공감각적 매체로 하여, 가시와 비가시의 경계를 탐구하고 두 세계너머의 열린 가능성을 제시한다. 공개모집된 사연을 통해 소통과 우연, 공간과 관람객 사이에 에너지 연결에 집중한다. 이번 귀국전은 냄새와 향기가 기억에 작용하는 방식을 공간적 조우의 다양한 뉘앙스를 통해 살피며, 우리가 공간을 회상하는 방식을 탐구하는 기회를 제공할 것이다.
《KOO Jeong A–ODORAMA CITIES》 at the Korean Pavilion, the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia opens its homecoming exhibition at ARKO Art Center in Seoul, South Korea. The exhibition is a commemorative show of the Korean Pavilion in Venice, which recently completed its seven-month journey. KOO Jeong A’s solo show 《ODORAMA CITIES》 is curated by the artistic director duo Seolhui LEE(Chief Curator, Kunsthal Aarhus, Denmark) and Jacob FABRICIUS(Director, Art Hub Copenhagen, Denmark).
The exhibition title ‘Odorama’ is a word that combines ‘odor,’ which means scent, and ‘-rama’ of drama. KOO uses the sense of smell and sight as a synesthetic medium to explore the delicate balance between visibility and invisibility, the imaginary and actuality, and existence and nonexistence, thus providing possibilities beyond their boundaries. 《KOO Jeong A–ODORAMA CITIES》 delves into the nuances of our spatial encounters, investigating how we perceive and recollect spaces, what trickers our memory, with a particular emphasis on how scents, smells, and odors contribute to these memories.
