금호미술관은 개관 30주년을 맞아 2019년 한 해 동안 미술관의 지난 활동을 돌아보는 다양한 특별전을 마련하고, 그 첫 순서로 역대 금호영아티스트의 작품을 한 자리에 선보이는 전시를 3부에 걸쳐 개최한다. 금호영아티스트 프로그램은 인재발굴과 육성을 지속해 온 금호아시아나 문화재단의 설립 취지를 적극적으로 실천하는 동시에, 2000년대 중반 미술계에서 펼쳐진 ‘젊은 작가’에 대한 관심과 더불어 시작하였다. 새로운 것을 모색하고 젊은 시선에 주목하고자 한 당시 미술계 흐름의 한 축을 함께 형성한 금호영아티스트 프로그램은 공모를 통해 신진작가의 개인전 개최를 지원하고 이들의 잠재력이 돋보이는 작품들을 소개해 왔다.

현재까지 16번의 공모를 통해 선정된 69명의 작가와 함께 하는 전시는 금호미술관의 작가 지원 활동을 되돌아보고 동시대 젊은 작가들의 실험적 태도의 전개 양상을 조망한다. 전시와 연계하여 진행되는 라운드 테이블과 특별 강연 등 다양한 부대 프로그램은 2000년대 중반 이후 미술 현장의 양상과 국내 신진 예술가 지원 프로그램의 현황을 진단하고 점검하는 기회가 될 것이다.

In commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the opening, the Kumho Museum of Art will introduce the special exhibitions to look back the past activities of the museum throughout this year. For the first part, the museum presents the exhibition in a trilogy to show the works of the former Kumho Young Artists. In mid-2000s, the Korean

art world was highly interested in discovering the emerging artists.

With such trend, the Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation proceeded the Kumho Young Artist program to fulfill the purpose of supporting the talented young artists. The program has been supporting the solo exhibition of the artists and presenting their artworks and the potential through the competition.

Kumho Young Artist : The 69 Times of Sunrise shares the experimental attitudes of the 69 artists who have selected through the 16 open contests. This exhibition will be an opportunity to discuss the condition of the support program for the emerging artists and the aspect of art world after mid-2000s in Korea.
