‘우리와 당신들’은 우리가 함께 살아가게 될 세계와 이미 변화하고 있는 ‘함께 살아가는 방식’을 조명한다. 13명/팀의 작가들은 개인적인 경험에 근거하여 그들이 파악한 세계의 단면들을 제시한다. 다양한 지역에서 자란, 다양한 세대의 작가들은 근대적 세계를 구성해 온 보편적 기준들이 무너지고 있으며 세계가 더 이상 진보하고 있지 않음을 보여준다. “우리 어떻게 함께 살 것인가”라는 질문에서 시작된 전시는 결국 인종, 젠더, 문화의 차이를 넘어 인간과 비인간이 기술을 매개로 공존하는 다양한 세계를 보여준다.
이 전시는 ‘우리’가 역사와 관습에 부정적으로 묶인 공동체를 넘어서서, 다수의 타자와 새로운 관계를 형성할 수 있는지 묻고자 한다. ‘우리와 당신들’은 개념적으로 다름을 뛰어넘는 ‘우연, 상호의존성, 실천으로 묶인 공동체’를 함께 상상한다.
Us Against You brings light to the worldin which we will be living together soon and to the ways “for us to live together,” which has been changing already. The 13 groups of artists present facets of the world based on their personal experiences. The artists from different regions and various generations, show that the universal criteria that supported the modern world have been crashed down and that the world in not moving forward anymore.
The exhibition developed from the question “How shall we live together” eventually it presents a world of diversity in which humans and non-humans coexist through technology despite racial, gender and cultural differences.
Through this exhibition, we hope to seek the possibility to build new relationship with numerous others beyond the old ties of history and conventions that used to supported a community. Us Against You imagines “a community based on a chance, independence and action” that overcomes differences.
