2021년 9월 30일 개막하는 개관전 1부는 송은문화재단과 헤르조그 & 드 뫼롱(이하 HdM)이 협력 기획한 신사옥 건립 특별전 ‘Herzog & de Meuron. Exploring SongEun Art Space.’이다.
이번 전시에서는 지난 4년 반의 여정과 HdM이 설계와 건축 시공을 위해 송은문화재단을 탐구했던 일련의 과정들을 다양한 방식으로 소개한다. 또한 HdM과 오랜 시간 협업해 온 현대미술 작가들의 작품을 통해, 그들이 지향하는 건축 철학을 살펴볼 수 있다.
더불어 송은문화재단의 전시 프로그램에 참여했던 국내 작가들의 커미션 작업을 통해 11년간 운영되었던 송은 아트스페이스와 새로운 공간 ‘송은’ 사이를 매개하며, 신사옥 이전에 있었던 철거 전 구옥과 새롭게 선보이는 신사옥 공간에 대한 탐구를 선보이고자 한다.
개관전 2부 ‘제21회 송은미술대상전’은 12월 10일에 개막될 예정이다.
The first part of the Opening Exhibition, opening on September 30, 2021, will feature a special exhibition ‘Herzog & De Meuron. Exploring SongEun Art Space’. planned in collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron(HdM).
The exhibition will detail the four-and-a-half year journey from the initial concept design and overall project alongside the series of procedures HdM explored about the Foundation in consideration to its design and construction. The works of foreign artists who have been long-time partners with HdM will offer viewers an insider perspective to their fundamental architectural aesthetics.
The commissioned works of Korean artists who have been a part of the Foundation’s exhibition program will mediate the two spaces; SongEun ArtSpace and the new space ‘SONGEUN’ and present the opportunity to explore the old building before demolition and the newly introduced art spaces.
The second part of Opening Exhibition The 21st SongEun Art Awards is scheduled to open on December 10.
