현대화랑 Hyundaihwarang (B-58)

 

현대화랑에서는 2015년 첫 전시로, ‘이중섭의 사랑, 가족’을 개최한다. 이중섭은 우리에게 가장 널리 알려진 작가이자 한 시대를 대표하는 작가이다. 일반적으로 그의 작품을 떠올리면, 힘찬 소의 이미지가 떠오르지만 정작 작품의 상당수를 차지하고 있는 작품은 사랑과 가족에 대한 내용이다. 이번 전시는 이런 이중섭의 사랑과 가족에 대한 작품으로 구성하여 전시된다. 전시는 크게 3개의 전시장으로 나눠어 있다. 제1전시장 ‘어둠 속 은빛희망 사랑의 초상’에는 유학시절 글을 대신해 사랑을 전했던 엽서화와 담뱃갑 속 은지에 새긴 은지화, 제2전시장 ‘희망의 서신’에서는 가족에게 보냈던 비공개 편지화 20여 점과 이중섭의 아내 이남덕 여사의 일생을 담은 기록영화가 짧게 편집되어 상영되고 있다. 제3전시장 ‘어른아이의 초상 가족이 다시 하나 되기를’에는 가족들이 재회하는 행복한 순간과 평화로운 모습을 표현한 작품 20여 점이 전시되어 가족에 대한 그의 애틋한 사랑과 진정한 가족애를 다시금 느낄 기회가 될 것이다.

또한, 이중섭이 살았던 격변기에 우리 민족이 겪은 수난과 비극을 대변하는 그의 작품들은 우리의 어려웠던 시절을 다시 돌아볼 수 있는 좋은 계기가 될 것이다.

Hyundai Hwarang holds Lee Joong-Seop’s Love, Family as the first exhibition of 2015. Lee is an artist who is most widely known to the public as well as the representative artist of an era. Generally recalling of Lee’s artworks, image of vigorous cow comes to one’s mind. However, significant number of artworks grounded on the theme of love and his longing for family. This exhibition is comprised of works symbolizing Lee Joong-Seop’s love towards family and will be displayed into three different sections. The first exhibition hall, <Silvery Hope in the Darkness  Portrait of love>, presents love postcards delivered while Lee studied abroad and eunjihwa carved on eunji inside the cigarette case. <Letter of Hope>, the second exhibition hall, is comprised of the private letters sent to the family and screens briefly edited documentary of Lee’s wife, Lee Namduk's life. The third exhibition hall, <Adult Child’s Portrait  Family to be United Once Again>, displays 20 pieces of artworks expressing joyous and peaceful moments of family reunion that one can feel Lee's truly ardent affection for his family.

Lee Joong-Seop’s artworks, which represents the tragedy and suffering our nation experienced in the period of upheaval, will provide a good opportunity for us to look back our difficult times.
