 갤러리 화이트블럭은 개관 1주년을 맞이하여 원로 작가 김구림의 작품세계를 재조명하는 ‘판타스마고리아 : 김구림의 여정 2012’를 개최한다.

 이번 전시에서 대형 평면작업과 마네킹 오브제 작업을 비롯한 영상 및 설치작품, 물과 불 작업, 드로잉, 자화상 연작, 판화 등 1950년대 이후 현재에 이르기까지 김구림의 미술세계를 대표하는 작품들이 총 400평에 달하는 6개의 전시장과 로비를 통해 공개된다.

 특히 뉴욕과 LA시절 펼쳐졌던 서정적인 <Landscape> 시리즈와 1970년대 캔버스 드로잉 등 흔히 접할 수 없던 작품이 다수 출품되어 한국 미술사에 뚜렷한 족적을 남긴 바 있는 김구림의 예술세계를 되짚어 볼 기회가 될 것이다. 여기에 한국 최초의 실험영화인 <24분의 1초의 의미>를 비롯한 영상작업, 1990년대 미국에서 공개되었던 설치작품 재현, 방대한 아카이브 자료 등이 비치되어 관객의 이해를 돕는다.

 Gallery White Block shows ‘Phantasmagoria : the itinerary of Kim Kulim 2012’ which sheds light on Kim Kulim’s world of art to celebrate first anniversary of the exhibition.

 The exhibition presents his representive works from 1950s so far, such as painting, mannequin object, video, installation, drawing, self-portrait, and print. These are displayed in six rooms and lobbies of the gross area 1,322m².

 Especially, by presenting <Landscape> series from his era of New York and Los Angeles and canvas drawings in 1970s. It should be a good chance to reminisce his world of art which left significant mark in Korean history of art.
Moreover, the first experimental film in Korea <the meaning of 1/24 sec>, reproduction of installation works which is presented in 1990s and huge archive exhibits will help visitor’s understanding.
