성남아트센터 미술관

‘영국로열아카데미 대표작가전’은 영국 왕립미술원 회원(Royal Academician) 중 회화, 조각, 건축 3개 부문의 대표적인 작가 13명 50여 점의 작품을 통해 영국현대미술의 다양함을 살펴보는 전시로 성남아트센터 미술관에서 열리고 있다.

영국로열아카데미는 1768년 조지 3세(George-III)에 의해 설립된 영국 왕립미술원(Royal Academy of Arts)으로 오늘날 영국현대미술이 세계 미술의 중심에 설 수 있었던 원동력이라 할 수 있다. 240여 년의 오랜 역사를 자랑하는 왕립미술원은 미술전시와 교육을 통해 우수한 작가들을 배출해오고 있으며, 이 왕립미술원의 회원 자격을 가진다는 것은 영국 미술인으로서 최고의 영예라 할 수 있을 것이다.
이번 전시는 영국현대미술의 두 번째 전시로 지난해 열렸던 ‘영국현대회화’가 회화 위주의 전시였다면, 올해 진행되는 ‘영국로열아카데미 대표작가전’은 회화·조각·건축 등 다양한 영국현대미술 장르를 경험해 볼 수 있는 자리가 될 것이다.

The Royal Academicians' Exhibition that is held by the Seongnam Arts Center will show the diverseness of British contemporary art through 50 works of the 13 most representative artists of the Royal Academy of Arts.

The British Royal Academy is a Royal Academy of Arts that was established by George-III in 1786 and has been the driving force that has allowed British contemporary art to be the center of global art today. The Royal Academy of Arts, with its long-standing history of 240years, has cultivated outstanding artists through exhibitions and training. It is considered one of the highest honors for a British artists to be qualified for membership.
This is the second exhibition of British contemporary art. While last year's ‘Exhibition of British Contemporary Paintings’ focused on paintings, ‘The Royal Academician's Exhibition’ will give you a chance to experience various forms of British contemporary art, such as paintings, sculpture, and architect.
