우리가 존재하는 시공간은 태어나서 죽기까지 끊임없이 변화한다. 그 변화의 흐름속에 우리의 갈망과 욕구가 살아가는 삶의 터전에서 아름다운 삶의 방식으로 만들어지길 누구나 기대한다. 이러한 삶의 방식은 시간이 흐르면서 반복과 변화하는 것들로부터 만들어지고, 이는 문화로 자리 잡게 되는 것이다. 이제 우리는 어떠한 문화를 만들어갈 것인가를 생각해 보아야 한다.

작가 소은명은 변화하는 시간과 공간에 대하여 말하고자 한다. 작가는 자신의 상황적 이유로 옮겨다니면서 작업을 해야하는 현실을 작품에 반영한다. 작품이 만들어지고 있는 곳에 위도와 경도를 표시하고 지금의 시간을 기록하여, 계속 달라지는 자신의 위치를 기록한다. 이러한 기록의 집약에는 자신이 가야할 방향성과 변화하는 미술세계안에서 자신이 나아갈 방향의 집중한 작업을 통하여 우리의 각자의 위치에 대해 깊게 생각해보는 시간이 되기를 소망해본다.

강남 문화재단과 함께하는 이번 전시는 강남의 시공간 에너지를 작가의 작품세계에 반영하여 미적 매개체인 페인팅, 조형, 영상에 담아 지역주민을 포함한 관람하는 모든 이들과 함께 소통하고자 한다.

 

 

The space-time in which we exist constantly evolves from our birth to death. In the flow of this change, everyone hopes for a beautiful way of life to be created as the foundation of our desires and aspirations. This way of life is formed through repetitions and transformations over time and eventually takes its place in culture. Now, we must contemplate what kind of culture we will create.

Artist So Eun-Myeong seeks to express the changing time and space. The artist reflects the reality of having to work while constantly moving for personal reasons in her artwork. She marks the latitude and longitude of the location where the artwork is being created and record the current time, thus documenting the ever-changing position of the artist. Through this compilation of records, the artist hopes for a time when they, along with others, deeply contemplate their individual positions within the evolving art world and the direction they need to take.

This exhibition, in collaboration with Gangnam Foundation for Arts & Culture, aims to incorporate the energy of Gangnam's space-time into the artist's world of work. Through mediums such as painting, sculpture, and video, it seeks to communicate with all viewers, including locals, allowing them to engage with the artistic expression and the cultural context of Gangnam.

 

이번 전시의 기획 의도는 변화하는 시간과 공간에 대하여 작업하며, 빠르게 바뀌는 미술세계 안에서 자신이 나아갈 방향성에 대해 고민하는 작가의 작품세계와 강남 예술 문화의 정체성을 명확히 만들어 가고자 하는 문화 재단의 행보에 작가, 기관, 관람자가 함께하는 개인 또는 지역사회에 현재와 미래의 시간,위치(공간)에 대해 질문하며 새롭게 생각해 보는 시간을 갖고자 하는 것이다.

소은명 작가의 '시 공간' 프로젝트는 작가만의 예술영역으로 큰 범주안에서의 작가 삶의 위치 기록과 이념을 통해 자연스럽게 물흐르듯 이동되고 옮겨지고 기록되어진다.

이번 전시의 영상은 3달간의 여정을 일반적 장소와 작가의 개인적 장소를 드로잉으로 잇고 기록하였다. 모든 패턴과 영상들은 특정장소(강남구) 안에서의 작가 움직임을 기록하며 그외 강남의 특정요소 인구밀도와 위치 데이터를 드로잉안에 기록하므로 작품을 완성하였다.

중첩되어진 영상들은 모두 강남구 안에서의 작가의 흔적을 기록한 것을 재 가공한 것들이다.

한가지의 영상에 집중하여 보는 것이 아니라 중첩되고 재가공 되어진 전체적 이미지는 여러 문화를 수용하고 경제, 문화,  예술이 어우러져 함께 호흡하는 거대한 지역의 이미지를 나타낸다.

이것이 바로 강남구의 에너지가 아닌가!

각각의 영상을 보면서 또는 중첩되어진 전체 패턴으로 영상을 보면서 새로운 예술 에너지를 경험하길 바란다.                                    

The 'Time-Space' project by artist So Eun-Myeong seamlessly moves, shifts, and records the artist's life and philosophy within the broad realm of their unique artistic domain.

The visuals for this exhibition document a three-month journey, connecting and recording the artist's movements between everyday spaces and their personal spaces through drawings. All patterns and visuals record the artist's movements within a specific location (Gangnam-gu), along with population density and location data from other specific elements of Gangnam, thereby completing the artwork.

The overlapping visuals are all reworked records of the artist's traces within Gangnam-gu. Instead of focusing on a single visual, the overall image, overlaid and reworked, represents a vast region where various cultures converge and economics, culture, and art harmonize, breathing together. Isn't this the very essence of Gangnam-gu's energy?

We hope you experience a new artistic energy while viewing each video or the overall patterns created through their overlapping.
