‘정연두: 오감도(烏瞰圖)’는 울산시립미술관 미디어아트 전용관(XR랩) 두 번째 전시로, 까마귀의 시선으로 바라본 울산의 모습이다. 이상의 시(詩) 「오감도(烏瞰圖)」에서 영감을 받은 작가는 한 곳에 오래 정주하지 못하고 이동하며 살아가는 현대 도시민들의 삶을, 서식지를 찾아 먼 여행을 떠나는 까마귀 떼와 보헤미안 가수 안코드에 비유한다. 작가는 이를 통해 울산의 모습을 다큐멘터리 서사 형식으로 그려내고 있지만 사실 우리가 지향해야 할 모든 도시의 꿈을 묘사하고 있다. 이 꿈은 허공의 메아리가 아니라 철저한 현장성에 기초한다. 이는 정연두 작가의 작업 세계를 관통하고 있는 현실과 허구의 미묘한 긴장관계와 맞닿아 있다. 이 긴장관계는, 이번 작품에 “도시의 서사와 꿈”의 이중주로 연주된다. 산업도시 울산의 모습과 안코드의 노래가 오버랩되면서 서사와 꿈의 이중주는 더욱 강화된다. 영상의 클라이맥스 부분에 ‘빛’의 환영은 산업도시의 반복적인 삶의 메커니즘 속에서 빼앗겨버린 도시민들의 원초적 감각과 정감의 회복을 상징하는 아이콘으로 작용한다.

‘JUNG Yeondoo: Crow’s Eye View’ is a second exhibition for the museum's XR Lab. It displays a view of Ulsan from a crow’s perspective. Inspired by a homonymous poem 「Crow’s Eye View」 by YI Sang, the artist portrays an unstable life of modern citizens who live without a destination through a flock of crows traveling to look for habitats and bohemian singer Aancod. The artist depicts Ulsan in the narrative form of documentary through crows and the singer, but metaphorically reflects the dream of cities that we should aim for. The dream is not an echo of a void but based on the thorough reality. It is in close contact with a subtle tension between reality and fiction that permeates the artist’s oeuvre. It is played as a duet of “city’s narrative and dream,” and highlighted in the video through the overlap of the view of Ulsan, the industrial city, and the song of Aancod. The illusion of ‘light’ in the video’s climax acts as an icon symbolizing the recovery of affection and the primitive sense of the human that was deprived by the repetitive life in the industrial city.
