전병삼은 '사라졌을 때 비로소 보이는 것'을 작업의 대상으로 한다. 가령 사람들이 남대문이 화재로 소실되었을 때 남대문에 대한 대대적인 관심을 갖는 것과 비슷한 방식이다.

그의 작품은 보이는 것이 아니라 보이게 하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이번 전시에서는 '언폴드' 시리즈로 구성된 펼쳐서 사라지게 하는 방식의 12점의 평면 작품과 30m 규모의 대형 설치작품이 선보인다.

1만개의 유리병이 설치된 30m 규모의 설치작업으로 병 1만개가 만년을 담은 '시간의 유리병'으로 재탄생한 이 작품은 시간의 역사를 거시적, 미시적 차원에서 동시에 조망한다.

여기에 활용된 달력은 율리우스력과 그레고리력이다. 50ml짜리의 작은 병에는 1년치 달력이 담기고 뒷면은 파란색으로 통일되어 있는데 하루 24시간을 만개의 유리병에 균등하게 나눠 밀리초 단위로 적혀 있다.

그의 작품에 나타난 너무 길거나 너무 짧은 시간은 무의미하게 느껴지지만 결국 그런 시간들이 예술을 포함한 인간적 의미를 가능하게 하는 요소이다.

Jeon Beongsam's work is based on 'what is visible only when it disappears'. For example, it is similar to how people take great interest in Namdaemun when it is destroyed by fire.

His work aims not to be seen, but to be seen. In this exhibition, 12 flat works composed of the 'Unfold' series, which unfold and disappear, and a 30m large installation work will be presented.

As a 30m-wide installation work with 10,000 glass bottles installed, this work, which was reborn as a 'glass bottle of time' containing ten thousand years, views the history of time simultaneously at the macroscopic and microscopic levels.

The calendars used here are the Julian and Gregorian calendars. The small 50ml bottle contains a year's worth of calendar, and the back is unified in blue. 24 hours a day is divided equally among 10,000 glass bottles and written in milliseconds.

Time that is too long or too short in his work feels meaningless, but in the end, such time is an element that makes human meaning possible, including art.
