청주시립미술관은 청주와 연고가 있는 한국 현대미술 대표작가 7인을 선정하여, ‘여백의 신화 : 청주 한국현대미술의 초기 역사를 쓰다’ 개관전을 개최했다. 전시는 김복진, 김기창, 박래현, 정창섭, 윤형근, 박노수, 김봉구 이들 7인의 유작에서 엄선한 80여 점의 작 품과 다수의 드로잉, 사진자료, 친필원고 등을 포함한다. 전시에 출품된 모든 작품은 작가의 시기별 표현 양식과 변화를 전형적으로 보여주는 작품을 선정하여 구성했다.
특히 이 전시에서 관람객이 특별히 주목할 만한 프로젝트가 있 다. 거의 남아있지 않은 김복진의 소실 유작 중, <여인입상(1924)>, <백화(1938)>, <소년(1940)>, <속리산 미륵대불(1940)> 4점을 조각가 정창훈이 남아있는 사진이미지를 근거로 새롭게 복원했다. 이 복원작들을 3D모델링하여 높이 9ｍ의 프로젝션홀로그램을 한 작품과 높이 1ｍ의 리얼(360°)홀로그램 세 작품을 만들었다. 그리고 ‘위대 한 영혼과의 대화’라는 주제로 높이 10ｍ의 100평인 공간에 홀로 그램영상 작품을 설치하였는데, 이는 우리나라 공립미술관에서 시도한 최초의 대형 홀로그램 영상설치작품이 될 것이다.
CMoA holds the open exhibition, ‘The Myth of YOBAEK, Vacating a picture plane’ that includes 7 great contemporary artists of korea who are all connection with, had been born, school education or lived in, Cheongju city. There are over 80 masterpieces by artists, KIM Bok-jin, KIM Ki-chang, PARK Re-hyun, YUN Hyong-keun, CHUNG Chang-sup, PAK No-soo, KIM Bong-goo, and including their drawings, pictures, and manual scripts etc. All the art works of the exhibition is consisted by the criterion that is the chronological approach, which evinces their own individual artistic style and its variations.
Especially in this show there is a notable project you must see. Actually there is almost of nothing left by KIM Bok-jin. So selecting 4 items, <A statue of standing nude woman(1924)>, <Baekhwa(1938)>, <A statue of standing youth(1940)>, <A statue of Maitreya(1940)> among his disappeared works, CMoA asked a sculptor, JEONG Chang-hoon, newly to remake them based on their photograph images left. Doing 3D modeling of the 4 works, then makes a 9m height projection Hologram and 3 works of 1m height real 360° Hologram. They are installed in a gallery of 10m height 330㎡, titled ‘Dialogue with the great Artist’s spirit’. It might be the first huge installation work of art made of Hologram images which are tried to do by public Art Museum in Korea ever.
