이번이 6회째인 안양공공예술프로젝트(이하 APAP)는 국내 유일의 국제 트리엔날레이자, 한국의 공공예술을 선도하는 행사로서, 올해엔 ‘공생도시’(共生都市)라는 대주제와 ‘안양, 함께하는 미래도시’라는 부주제로 개최된다. 구체적으로 APAP6에서는 ‘환경적 가치, 문화적 가치, 사회적 가치’ 등의 세 가지 방향성에 주목하여 프로젝트를 기획하였다.
먼저 환경적 이슈로서 최근 인류의 공동 선결과제인 미세먼지에 대한 이슈를 제시하기 위해 아티스트이자 이노베이터로 전 세계의 주목을 받고 있는 네델란드 단 로세하르데의 <스모그 프리 타워>를 선보인다. 또한 문화적 가치에 대한 관점으로 안양예술공원의 활성화와 방문객들이 일상적 예술을 느낄 수 있도록 문주 조각가의 <지상의 낙원>을 존치 프로젝트로 진행했다.
그리고 사회적 가치의 차원에서는 APAP6 전체의 흐름을 엮는 주제전시를 마련했다. 안양파빌리온에서 진행되는 APAP6 주 전시의 제목인 ‘내일 보다 나은’은 ‘내일 보다 나은 ~’이 수식하는 명사 자리에는 그 무엇도 들어갈 수 있으며, 그 상상력 속에 자신과 우리가 살아가고 있는 도시, 자연, 문화에 대한 질문과 답을 스스로 찾아가게 되길 기대하고 있다.
The only Triennale and the most pioneering event of public art held in Korea, the 6th Anyang Public Art Project(APAP6) opens with the main theme, ‘Symbiotic City’, along its subtopic, ‘Anyang, the City of Future to Go With’. Specifically, the project highlights three kinds of values: ‘the environmental value, cultural value and social value’.
First of all, as regards the environmental value, it presents <Smog Free Tower> designed by Dutch artist and innovator named Daan ROOSEGAARDE who has endeavored to offer solutions to the worldwide problem of smog. From the perspective of the cultural value, it presents <Elysium> by Korean artist, Moon Joo, as a permanent project in order to encourage more active operation of Anyang Art Park and provide audience with an environment in which they can enjoy art in daily lives. Lastly, in terms of social value, it has presented an exhibition embracing the entire flow of APAP6.
