2025년 아르코미술관 창작산실 협력전시 《드리프팅 스테이션-찬미와 애도에 관한 행성간 다종 오페라》는 탈-인류세 시대를 맞아 뮤지엄의 새로운 모델을 구축하고, 근대 개발사와 환경 조건 속에서 간과되어온 지역 토착민의 장소성, 자연, 땅에 주목하는 다학제적 큐레이토리얼 프로젝트 ‘드리프팅 커리큘럼’의 서막을 여는 전시다.
대만의 학제 간 리서치 플랫폼 ‘사이팅 바’와의 협업으로 기획된 이 전시는 작품 제시에 머무르지 않고 만남, 공연, 노래, 스토리텔링, 책 등으로 구성된 집단적 학습과 사변적 대화를 제안한다. 이를 통해 인간 중심의 근대성에서 벗어나 다양한 생명체들과의 잃어버린 연결을 회복하고자 하며, 인간과 비인간, 물질과 정동이 함께 직조하는 ‘행성 시학’의 서사를 통해 탈-인류세 시대 뮤지엄의 가능성을 탐색한다.
《Drifting Station–An Interplanetary Polyphonic Opera of Praise and Mourning》 marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Drifting Curriculum, a multidisciplinary curatorial project. This initiative explores a new model for a post-Anthropocene museum in Korea, centering local indigenous communities, places, nature, and land within the broader context of modern developmental history and environmental change.
Planned in collaboration with Citing Bar, an interdisciplinary research platform in Taiwan, this exhibition goes beyond merely presenting artworks and unfolds speculative conversations as a space for collective learning through encounters, performances, songs, storytelling, and books. It also extends beyond the exhibition space, leading to collaborations with a diverse range of non-human communities through practices like “walking, listening together, and responding.” As we navigate unpredictable times and spaces, we will focus on various Earth-related approaches through interdisciplinary, intergenerational, and collaborative models of solidarity, while gathering stories of loss and return.
