이천시립월전미술관

이천시립월전미술관은 근현대 한국화를 장르별로 조명해보고자 한다. 그 첫 번째가 ‘20세기 한국수묵산수화’다.

한국을 대표하는 수묵대가인 참여작가 21명은 3세대로 나뉜다. 1세대는 허백련, 김은호, 박승무, 이상범, 변관식, 노수현, 2세대는 이응노, 배렴, 장우성, 김기창, 3세대는 박세원, 박노수, 조평휘, 이열모, 이인실, 김동수, 이영찬, 송영방, 정탁영, 임송희, 이종상이다. 3세대는 해방 후 세워진 한국의 미술대학에서 배출된 작가 군이므로 특히 주목할 필요가 있다. 이들의 화풍이 20세기 한국수묵산수화의 변천 과정을 그대로 보여주기 때문이다.

20세기 한국수묵산수화는 문인 산수의 등장과 더불어 이상경의 관념산수에서 사실 경의 진경산수로의 변천 과정을 그치게 된다. 이것을 보여주는 45점의 작품은 전통화법을 토대로 한국적 실경을 구현한 ‘관념적 사경산수’, 이 사경산수에 현대적 감각이 가미된 ‘수묵풍경화’, 작가가 임의로 특정장소를 재해석한 독특한 경관의 ‘현대적 진경산수’, 산수의 구체적 묘사를 생략하고 내재한 이념을 형상화한 ‘신문인산수’의 네 부류로 나눠 전시된다.

Woljeon Museum of Art Icheon will shed light on the modern and contemporary Korean paintings by genre. The first is the exhibition Korean Ink Landscape Paintings of the 20th Century.

Twenty-one participating artists can be divided into three groups: first generation including Huh Baikryun, Kim Eunho, Park Seungmu, Yi Sangbom, Byeon Gwansik, and No Soohyun, second generation including Lee Ungno, Bae Ryum, Chang Woosoung, and Kim Kichang, and third generation including Park Sewon, Pak Nosoo, Cho Phyunghwi, Lee Yulmo, Lee Insil, And so on. The third group, graduates from the Fine Arts Colleges of Korea established after the liberation, is especially worthy of notice because their painting styles show the change of Korean ink landscape painting of the 20th century.

With the appearance of new literati landscapes, Korean ink landscape painting of the 20th century changed from idealized landscapes to true-view landscapes. Forty-five works showing the trend are displayed by classifying into four categories: ‘ideal actual landscape painting’ embodying Korean universal, real-view landscape, ‘ink landscape painting’ with a contemporary sense, ‘true-view landscape painting’ interpreting a specific place arbitrarily, and ‘new literati landscape painting’ expressing the inner idea in a simple, plain manner.
